University of South Carolina (USC) เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐบาลที่มีอายุเก่าแก่กว่า 217 ปี ปัจจุบันมีนักเรียนนักศึกษากว่า 50,000 คน มีสาขาระดับปริญญาตรีกว่า 100 สาขา ซึ่งมี สาขา International Business ที่ดีที่สุดติด 1 ใน 3 ของสหรัฐอเมริกามายาวนานกว่า 10 ปี และยังเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่ได้รับการยอมรับว่ามีการทำงานวิจัยขั้นสูงสุด (Very high research activity) โดย Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching ทั้งนี้ USC มีการรวบรวมผลงานของ Robert Burns นักประพันธ์ชาวสก็อตแลนด์และผลงานวรรณกรรมอื่นๆจากของสกอตแลนด์มากที่สุดในโลก ส่วนศิษย์เก่าที่มีชื่อเสียง ได้แก่ William Johnson ซึ่งเป็นประธานคณะกรรมการของ Bank of America, Glenn Tilton ประธานและ CEO ของ United Airlines นอกจากนี้ มหาวิทยาลัยยังเปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาได้ฝึกงานกับบริษัทชั้นนำต่างๆ เช่น Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, Petronas, Pfizer, Siemens และ Unilever

มหาวิทยาลัยตั้งอยู่ในเมือง Columbia เมืองหลวงของรัฐ South Carolina อยู่ทางตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ของประเทศ ติดกับมหาสมุคร Atlantic และห่างจาก Columbia Metropolitan Airport เพียง 20 นาที ภายในมหาวิทยาลัยมีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกให้กับนักศึกษาที่ทันสมัย และมีการส่งเสริมความสามารถด้านกีฬาให้กับนักศึกษาอย่างจริงจัง โดยมีอุปกรณ์กีฬาอย่างครบครัน อาทิเช่น สระว่ายน้ำ Indoor และ outdoor, ลู่วิ่ง, สนามบาสเก็ตบอล, สนามฟุตบอล และฟิตเนสขนาดใหญ่
