DePaul University เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชน ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 1898 ปัจจุบันมีจำนวนนักเรียนประมาณ 22,000 คน และมีอัตรานักเรียนต่างชาติเพียงแค่ 7% เท่านั้น และยังเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนที่มีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศอีกด้วย ปัจจุบันเปิดสอนมากมายกว่า 200 หลักสูตรในระดับปริญญาตรีและปริญญาโท โดยหลักสูตรที่มีชื่อเสียงได้แก่ Business, Animation, และ Video Games เป็นต้น

ด้วยการสอนที่มีคุณภาพมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ทำให้นักศึกษาที่จบการศึกษาที่นี่ได้รับการตอบรับเข้าทำงานในอัตราส่วนถึง 75 % ต่อเนื่องทุกปี กับบริษัทขนาดใหญ่มากมาย ส่วนหนึ่งเพราะชิคาโก้เป็นเมืองเศรษฐกิจที่รวบรวมสำนักงานของบริษัทชั้นนำของโลกไว้ที่เมืองนี้

นอกจากหลักสูตรทางด้านวิชาการที่มีคุณภาพแล้ว ทางมหาวิทยาลัยยังให้ความสำคัญด้านกิจกรรมกับนักเรียน โดยมีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกมากมาย เช่น ตึกเรียนที่ทันสมัย, อุปกรณ์ทุกอย่างที่พร้อมอำนวยความสะดวกให้นักเรียน, คลับกิจกรรมมมากว่า 350 คลับ, Sport complex ที่มีฟิตเนสอุปกรณ์ทันสมัย, สระว่ายน้ำมาตรฐาน, ลู่วิ่งในร่ม, โรงยิมอเนกประสงค์ 4 แห่ง, กีฬามากมายหลายชนิด เช่น ฟุตบอล, บาสเกตบอล, วอลเลย์บอล, เทนนิส เป็นต้น

ในส่วนของหอพัก นักศึกษาปริญญาตรีต้องอยู่หอพักของทางมหาวิทยาลัย ที่มีขนาดใหญ่ถึง 18 ชั้น ที่รวบรวมนักศึกษาจาก 4 มหาวิทยาลัยเข้าด้วยกัน โดยในหอพักมีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกมากมาย เช่น ห้องส่วนกลางพร้อมครัว, ฟิตเนส, ห้องแล็บมัลติมีเดีย, ห้องซ้อมดนตรี, ศูนย์อาหาร, ห้องเล่นเกมส์, ห้องประชุม เพื่อให้นักเรียนได้พักผ่อน พบปะ กับเพื่อนทั้งในมหาวิทยาลัยเดียวกันและต่างมหาวิทยาลัย

มหาวิทยาลัยตั้งอยู่ใจกลางเมือง chicago ซึ่งเป็นเมืองที่ตั้งอยู่ในรัฐอิลลินอยส์ เขต Midwest ของประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา และเป็นเมืองที่ใหญ่ที่สุดเป็นลำดับ 3 ของประเทศ เนื่องจากเมืองชิคาโก้เป็นเมืองขนาดใหญ่และมีประชากรอยู่เยอะ จึงทำให้มีความหลากหลายทางด้านวัฒนธรรม และมีสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวที่หลากหลายตั้งอยู่ในเมืองนี้

มหาวิทยาลัยมีทั้งหมด 5 แคมปัสย่อย กระจายตัวอยู่รอบเมือง โดยมีสองแคมปัสหลักและหอพักที่ตั้งอยู่ใจกลางเมืองเลยอีกด้วย และตัวมหาวิทยาลัยเอกยังมีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกมากมาย เช่น ศูนย์กีฬาขนาดใหญ่ที่รวบรวมกีฬาไว้หลากหลายชนิด, ห้องสตูดิโอและโรงยิมเอนกประสงค์ เป็นต้น
