มหาวิทยาลัย Durham เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดเป็นอันดับ 3 ของประเทศอังกฤษ โดยก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 1882 และยังเป็นหนึ่งในสถาบันของกลุ่ม Russell ที่มีชื่อเสียงด้านงานวิจัยระดับโลก และเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำในกลุ่ม Oxbridge ที่นักศึกษาเลือกศึกษาต่อเป็นจำนวนมาก อีกทั้ง 97.5% ของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัย Durham ได้รับการจ้างงาน โดยถือเป็นอัตราการจ้างงานหลังจบการศึกษาสูงที่สุดของมหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศอังกฤษ Durham ถือเป็นอีกหนึ่งมหาวิทยาลัยที่ได้รับการยอมรับในด้านสื่อการเรียนการสอนที่มีมาตรฐานระดับสากล โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งทางด้านวิศวกรรมศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
