มหาวิทยาลัย Texas A&M at Corpus Christi ก่อตั้งในปี 1947 โดยแต่เดิมมีชื่อว่า University of Corpus Christi อย่างไรก็ตาม ภายหลังได้มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงโดยมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งนี้ได้เข้าร่วมกับกลุ่ม Texas A&M University System ในปี 1989 จนเป็นที่มาของชื่อมหาวิทยาลัยในปัจจุบัน

มหาวิทยาลัย Texas A&M Corpus Christi เปิดทำการเรียนการสอนในระดับปริญญาตรี 33 หลักสูตร และอีก 25 หลักสูตรในระดับปริญญาโท และ 5 หลักสูตรในระดับปริญญาเอก จากทั้งหมด 5 คณะคือ College of Liberal Arts, College of Business, College of Education and Human Development, College of Science and Engineering and College of nursing and Health Sciences.
